I suppose for me, two of my strongest and fondest memories of grandma are also some of my earliest. I remember going on outings to the park with grandma, and always enjoying myself there- I was very young, but I believe that one of the parks was called Kessywell??? Spending time with Freda was special and though I also remember a very early trip to the seaside and spending an afternoon winkle picking and collecting a bucket of seaweed to take home in the back of the car, 'spending time' didn't have to be out somewhere. You know how particular smells are attached to thoughts and emotions? I will always remember spending the night at grandma's by a particular scent that I sometimes catch- a warm, cosy sort of scent that is hard to describe but stays with you, a cross between home cooking (her yorkshire puddings were legendary), scented soap and warm wool blankets. Thank you grandma for all the love and warmth you shared over the years- you will not be forgotten.
